Yeah. Exactly the way I would rank them. But PBR I enjoy more than all macro adjunct lagers. And I specify "adjunct". Cause beers with no adjuncts are.....of course.....better. But in the "Light" category of these beers.....Miller Lite is far superior. This is from a craft beer guy. Cheers!

I have some Summerfest in the fridge. Unlike some other seasonals SN continues to produce Summerfest several months into this run. The summer ale that I always look forward to is Deschutes Twilight which is a really easy drinking ale and reminds me of summer trips to Bend, Oregon.

Original Rolling Rock was good... Years ago (early "80s) they changed it and had to launch the "Same as it ever was" campaign to recover. RR was then brewed in Newark NJ ! Far from the Laurel Highlands of PA. Ruined forever !!! Another InBev catastrophe !!!

Great video and I appreciate the focus on simplicity. I've used acid malt on several light lagers I've done and was curious if there is a percentage level you could identify that tends to adds tartness to the finished beer. I've added around 3-4%, only for PH reduction purposes, and have noticed some tartness (unwanted) coming through even at that low level.

Beer is like people. Everyone is different, everyone has a different taste. If they all were the same life would be boring. Personally, never met a beer I wouldn't finish. Some better than others, but others might not like what I like. It's all good!

Don't forget the recently deceased Anchor Steam, a small brewery in San Francisco that literally kept the craft beer concept alive on the West Coast. Their Christams Ales were always worth seeking out. (Their small batch gin and whisky were also remarkable.) the dollar killed them.

Don't drink beer from green and clear bottles unless you know for sure it came out of a cardboard box and didn't sit in a lighted fridge. Light wrecks beer. But even above that... Don't drink yellow beer unless you're doing yard work.

  • @magambi123

The hoppiest wins. What a shocker. I know summer ale isn't a style, but do we always have to interprate based on IPA? I would like to see a blind comparison of summer beers that included light pilsner and also a non-craft like Coors Light. CL is specifically designed to be a summer drinking beer, so it would be interesting to see how it compares to craft beers attempting to do the same thing.

  • @toddreed5799

My "go to" has always been Miller Lite. I've never been a fan of Bud products. To my palate, Coors Light is just a step above water. But it also comes down to how much I think I will be drinking. If I know I'm going to be at home on a holiday (such as the upcoming 4th of July), then I usually go for "quantity" over "quality"; Miller Lite. But when I want "quality" I tend to go for either a good stout or hef from one of my local micro-breweries.

Good to see that you guys also do bittering in your hazy IPAs, even though I've heard constantly about NEIPA stlye beers often not having a bittering addition. I've never tried your stuff, or any American Hazies, but in my corner of the world Hazy IPAs and Pale Ales are also dominant and the brewery I learned to brew at always had a small bittering addition in these beers. You can tell when they don't - the hops lack depth and the beer is flabby and one dimensional.
